hSenid Business Solutions, a Sri Lanka-based premier HRIS Solutions provider walked away with three prestigious awards at the ‘Resilience’ 28th Annual Export Awards held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo, in recognition of its celebrated role and contribution in building the country’s exports sector, especially during the ongoing economic upheaval caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The hSenid Group of Companies, founded in 1997 by Dinesh Saparamadu, is an application and service provider for the telecom, financial and enterprise markets. hSenid Business Solutions specializes in Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), Human Resource Outsourcing (HRO), and Access Control & Employee Tracking Solutions in the heart of Colombo.

hSenid Business Solutions was honoured with three awards, the prestigious Most Outstanding SME Exporter Award, Gold Award for ICT & BPO Related Services (Medium category) and the Deshabandu Patrick Amarasinghe Challenge Trophy at the 28th Annual Export Awards 2020 organised by the apex industry body, the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka.

hSenid’s Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) is an undisrupted market leader in the HRIS industry of Sri Lanka. From its offices in Australia, Singapore, Kenya, India, and Bangladesh, the company serves over 1,300 clients across 18 industries in more than 40 countries.

Today, global markets account for the lion’s share of hSenid’s revenue, and this segment is also the fastest-growing. Here, hSenid Business Solutions Chief Executive Officer/Director, Sampath Jayasundara shares his thoughts on the significance of winning the three awards and the company’s future plans.

What do the awards signify to you?

With our strong – and growing – business outside Sri Lanka, our revenue from overseas is growing faster. This is why we won the Gold Award under the Medium ICT and BPO Related Service Category at the Resilience 28th Annual Export Awards 2020 organized by the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka. The apex body of the country’s exporter community also honoured us with two other awards: the Most Outstanding SME Exporter Award and the Deshabandu Patrick Amarasinghe Challenge Trophy that recognises local companies that have and continue to expand beyond our shores.

The Exporter of the Year Award is a testament to the resilience and success of our expansion strategy in the Asia Pacific and the Middle East and Africa regions where we continue to win new clients despite the competition from global tech companies and the unprecedented challenges which come our way.

The Resilience Awards also mean a lot to us because they recognise the effort, we have taken to push our boundaries to do something special.

What is behind the successes of hSenid Business Solutions?

Taking a product overseas particularly a tech-based service and competing at a global scale is never easy! We realised what we had to do exceedingly early and relentlessly pursued a strategy that will win new markets for hSenid.

The first was to identify a market need and provide end-to-end solutions, as a result, our functional coverage is remarkably high compared to our competitors. The second was to leverage the tech talent and skills Sri Lanka is renowned for. By centralising development in Colombo, we have also been able to keep development costs competitive which meant that businesses had access to affordable high-quality products and services that are on par with the best international standards.

We also made it a point to localise our products and services to suit every market we serve; this ensures our customers get value for money and optimal use of what we offer which is a great advantage compared to often expensive and one-size-fits-all products offered by most global competitors in this space. We have over two decades of experience and expertise in HRIS, and if you consider our senior management team this translates to a combined 300 years which most of our global competitors do not have.

hSenid Business Solutions was founded with three people and 24 years later we are 230 strong in the HR Tech industry. We hire and nurture the best minds in the tech industry: we value and encourage entrepreneurship, out-of-the-box thinking and help our people achieve work-life balance. While our Human Resource Information solutions are core to our business, hSenid also has other services.

For instance, we provide and manage tracking solutions such as Employee Access Control, Time Attendance Devices, Face Recognition and Temperature Detection which are critical to any organization. With these products, our clients have a comprehensive suite of information for dynamic decision making. We also offer Human Resource Outsourcing (HRO) services including payroll management including solutions for managing statutory obligations such as EPF, ETF and taxation so that our clients can commit resources to areas that truly matter to them.
