A new play at the theatre of life “Life is a theatre set in which there are but few practicable entrances” – Victor Hugo, Les Miserables
The spotlight’s on, the curtain’s open and the show begins! Unveiling a story that even the actors ourselves discover during the journey. The story takes its twists and turns as we ride along the rollercoaster not knowing what it holds.
Although most of it is an untold story there are scenes that we rehearse to play and one such time is the beginning of a professional career. Where the show is run by a team and the characters we play are chosen for us.
In this play your stage becomes the organisation that you belong to, your colleagues, the crew of actors and actresses in this huge production. You’ve got your props and you’re performing the role you once auditioned for, in front of a director. This production called “An Organisation”, is built on the efforts of many different roles that run the show. You’ve got your producers, who are your top management, who in simple terms make things happen, supervising and putting together the whole production. The theatrical managers, who are your financial managers that oversee the financial aspects of the project. Then one of the most important roles of the show, your directors, the HR team of the organisation, who choses where your talent fits best. This is where you get to rehearse and make an entrance to find out which role you will be playing next. The next chapter of the play begins. A whole new crew of actors and actresses awaits. With the directors standing by, making sure the roles blend in, acting as the glue that keep the show together. In their own stories they are now the main characters making decisions not knowing what the future holds. The characters are born and the play takes its shape. They hold in their hands the life of the show with plans that with the efforts of the rest of the crew will turn into a grand production.
The show can’t go on with just the producers and the directors, it needs the main characters, or the management team that highlights the main story line. Leading the supporting actors/actresses and bringing the story together. Of course it doesn’t end there. There are so many other key players that keep the show going like, the camera and lighting crew that is your marketing team that shines the spotlight on the right moment and brings the show to a new light. Highlighting the intricate details of the play that will grab the attention of the audience. The stage managers, who are your supervisors that makes sure things run smoothly. The spotlight is on and the stage is all ready for the show to go on which is where the narrators, or the sales team come in to play, bringing the story to the audience to enjoy. Just like that a group of talented actors and actresses come together to begin a new chapter of a brand new show. The directors smiling proudly of the journey they are about to embark on.
Finally, Lights! Camera! And... Action! Brings to life yet another incredible show for the audience or the consumers to enjoy.
A repetitive day’s work gets a little spark when you think of yourself as an actor. Although it isn’t rehearsed, and in reality it isn’t as glamorous as it is for a real actor/actress, it is indeed a show that you put on as an employee every day, regardless of which part you play. And always in the eyes of a director you’re an important character to the play.
